At First Travel Solutions (FTS) we do a significant amount of rail replacement work. That involves regular bus and coach movements, sometimes in very tight spaces, at rail stations across the UK.

We recently ran a refresher training course for some of our existing co-ordination staff that work out at these many stations during rail replacement projects.

Shahid Ullah, Operations Manager at First Travel Solutions comments; “It’s really important that we make sure our co-ordination staff are supported with the most recent up to date training required. At FTS we cover such a vast array of work for so many different clients it’s important our staff are fully trained to the highest possible standards.

This particular course focused on banksperson training and what the key objectives are. All staff are already fully qualified banksperson but it does no harm to undertake a refresher course from time to time.”

The recent training acted as a reminder as to what the objectives of a banksperson are. Firstly it’s to ensure pedestrians are kept clear of a reversing vehicle and secondly it’s to prevent collisions with other vehicles or fixed objects.

The course was delivered over a weekend and involved classroom learning as well as covering the practical exercises too. The classroom learning aspect of the course was undertaken by 2 highly experienced members of the FTS team; Sophie Watson, Assistant Operations Manager and Emma Murphy, Senior Co-ordination Administrator.
